What will happen after Google's ad ban?

Rewards

No YUP/tokens awarded

As you have heard recently, Google has decided to ban ICO/crypto advertising starting in June. Some see this as a massive blow to the industry, while others take a more positive approach viewing this as a decision which will result in a push towards further decentralization, moving away from the centralized ad model.

Here at CH we may have an opportunity on our hands. Future ICOs and crypto business will need to use other forms of marketing. The Crowdholding innovation platform is a tool for direct community outreach through token sharing from tasks, including bounty sharing systems.

Give us your thoughts on how we prepare and implement a strategy that takes advantage of this ban. What features could we handle that would support more marketing outreach for our businesses?

We look forward to your feedback!

That would be like banning all Facebook ads. Just because you ban an ad doesn’t mean people don’t recognize it. Crypto is a brand, and fortunately this brand took off and became a global enterprise. You can’t kill crypto just the skeptics. The ball is Rollin and it can’t be stopped. Google is like the banks. In ten years they won’t exist an ICO will form and create a new search platform.

I took it very positively , I am not a fan of Google , Facebook or Twitter or any centralised platform , the world is moving from centralised PLATFORMs to decentralised platform , from Twitter n Facebook to steemit, these centralised platform can easily get manipulated by bots and other things , this ban now force icos to connect with the real crypto community.

well...it actually does not matter...people who want to know about ico will find it even if it is not advertised....atleast on google! it wont be popularised in the young generations who are exploring stuff from basics...but they will gradually learn about it from almost anywhere

My suggestion is to use it as an us vs them situation.
Having an established platform like yours, could be used for financial task sharing; promoting the use of crypto and strategically marketing it to the informed.
For the unaware, yet potential community; you could be a first stop; crypto for dummies.
You could educate, design course-ware; and awareness programs for the same. Tie up with willing institutions and integrate it into learning curriculum.
Draw crypto businesses to you with your base of eager new users from your education model who are ready to invest both time and money into the framework.
This industry has just begun. The possibilities are endless.

I've seen many businesses grow from word of mouth. Just like Elon Musk said about how he didn't need facebook advertising, "... project lives by its own means", meaning that if the project is good, of high impact, it'll grow.

Perhaps creating a community in which users (specially early ones) are motivated to spread the word about the product would help as an alternative to now traditional online advertising.

That's some innovative input! You seem to have a creative mind, gave some extra reward;)

I believe that specialized platform for bounties and airdrops etc are a good thing for the cryptoworld and the ICOs that are growing uncontrollably over the years. Through platform like this, ICOs are forced to think of real tasks for the public to complete instead of just leaving shilling posts for them to spam all over the social medias.
This will also reduce the number of ICO with no realworld usecase and also vaporware ICO as they will have to have useful tasks which people can complete and then promote their ICO instead of useless posts everywhere nowadays.
To complete the tasks from the ICO, people are forced to think and dig deep into it. By this way, scams and useless ICO wouldnot survive and people can save themselves from wasting a whole lot of money by using some of thier brains.
Speculation in the cryptospace might also be reduced in this case as the space is now too overcontrolled by FOMO and FUD.

Who need centralized google ad if we can create a decentralized ad and bounty platform of our own?

I think that, in its present form, can not be compared with crowdiving.

But if you raise the requirements for iso to the level of crowdification projects, then this should be enough to continue the story.

Perhaps, the instrument can be the exchange (stock exchange) crowud-iso, where the ideas that have passed the minimum required requirements will be listed.

To such requirements there can be a more thorough check of the authors; provision of prototypes and technology models; registration documents

Necessity they said is mother of all inventions, this is actually where this truth applied so,"Google" ban should not cause any panic because it is possible that it will create an opportunity that doesn't exist before now. Such opportunity can create more jobs for more peoples ,it may in turn reform crypto industry in better way than what we have today .
And crypto is a digital technology that advances in its progress with a speed of lighting, it is equally possible that if these challenges arrives it will be address in the same pace. So,let's leave the whole issue in the hand of the future and see how it will be confronted.

The policy states that ads for aggregators and affiliates will no longer be able to display “cryptocurrencies and related content.”

Currently, typing in a search query of “Bitcoin” serves an ad to buy the cryptocurrency at the top of the search results page, though that will change once the new policies take hold. Google’s move mirrors one made by Facebook in January, which also banned all ads for cryptocurrency on the social network. But, Bloomberg has previously noted that Facebook cryptocurrency ads found a way past the ban by deliberately misspelling words, such as replacing the “o” with a zero in the word “bitcoin.” A Google spokesperson told Bloomberg that the company would try to anticipate workarounds like this.

Google notes in a separate blog post that in 2017 the company took down more than 3.2 billion ads in violation of its policies. “Improving the ads experience across the web, whether that’s removing harmful ads or intrusive ads, will continue to be a top priority for us,” wrote Scott Spencer, director of sustainable ads at Google.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are notoriously volatile and governments are also clamping down on the digital tokens. India has said it doesn’t consider Bitcoin to be legal tender, China is increasingly cracking down on digital currencies, while Korea is planning a bill to ban all domestic cryptocurrency trading.

It may cause a little bit of downfall in value of the crypto market but now on the long term, as ypu may know thay the people qho backs up crypto is changing and gets powerful day by day. Right now if Google bans ad for crypto it will have negative impact on crypto market but it wont be for long. And im not gonna be surprise if one day it will have a negative impact on Google on long term.

Now a days, people are not really dependent on google anymore. Fb banned crypto ads before and it did not make an impact to the crypto world and now they removed banning the ads, because they lost a big chunk of cash from the ICO advertisers. CH if you would take the advantage of getting more people to join this community, that will make the future ICO marketing use CH site.

MY suggestion is that the if google's ad ban so their is other platform to give an a ad or publishing a app many of the people earn money only thorough a google ads it if it banned the company will not get the plateform to publish the app and people not earn money it is a link between a company and a viewer by many throughs.

I think in crypto there is a web web advertising service provider who dare to pay a high price and easy for people to register but the web is paying in the form of USD, after many people register on the web change payment system into digital currency maybe it will add people understand the crypto.

My take on this is as the crypto community grows as it is growing exponentially since December 2017 then google will have to turn that decision down or else we qill be seeing decentralized search engine ... Surely it will take time but Blockchain is the future!!!!
Plus it will be forcing upcoming ico's to think of another marketing strategies possibly on decentralized social media platforms...

I estimate that this move will not amount to much as far the future of crypto's and blockchain, etc. I also believe that this motion of censorship reflects poorly on Google, especially in the eyes of crypto fans who idealize decentralization. Said fans will still continue to push for the expansion and adoption of cryptocurrency. The way to capitalize on google's ban is to allow it to start some fires...point out their hypocrisy for what it is; a sign that crypto is actually making waves, and threatening the status quo. Whether or not this turns out to be entirely accurate is besides the point, since, for now, fans of decentralization will be inclined to agree, and thus more likely to show support for whatever new pro-crypto promotion is offered next.

Many countries like Australia,Estonia, Japan, Denmark are all dealing with ICO and Crypto. Ban on ICO/ Crypto ads can hamper the possibilities in this market a big way. Moreover active trading in this sector will also be affected. But the growth of crypto cannot be stopped as this is the medium of exchange in the future. Countries like Estonia is planning their own Estcoin and is exempted from VAT. Japan is bringing out Virtual Currency Act. The future is good for Crypto.

I feel that ban imposed by Google is great for cryptocurrency because it reduces a lot of noise presently in this field. People are getting bombarded with crypto ads even after visiting just one simple ico site. These ads give would be investors negative impression that it's probably not legitimate and that it's just some scam. This ban will add value to cryptocurrency area and give it some legitimacy. CH can create a platform where real blockchain expert are able give their thruthful reviews of legitamate ICOs. CH can incentivize blockchain expert to do thorough due diligence on ICOs and investors can use their reviews as additon to their own independent research. Both parties benefits in this case.

Thinking out of the box during such distress period is necessary. This is about Blockchain, so why not another project on Blockchain be used for advertisement and marketing? I think this is a move in right direction.

Many platforms on Blockchain or in Crypto world are offering marketing and advertisement - Indahash is one that I am aware of. This collaboration could really boost Crypto market and prove to be a win-win situation.

Startups will be forced to be more creative - if I were in charge of Crowdholding's strategy, I'd start focusing heavily on marketing the community-building aspect now. When ICOs are looking to get a foot in the door, they will go to the sites that already have the name recognition to get the word out quickly.

I also really like the "rate the ICO" idea posted by someone else already.

It will not be applicable in rural areas so there is a chance for imbalance. The chances of loosing money on our wallets is more and it is very difficult to get back your money. Since google has most number of users in the world, it should ban the crypto currency and I welcome this. Bravo Google I love you

First, we will need a strong user base for starting. In the beginning, we would definitely have to keep the cost to the customers minimal, so that they are tempted to try our service. We would also need the best
sales executives and customer service executives to capture and retain customers.

As the base of customers grow, and customers start to see the potential in non-conventional website ads, they would use those services more and more. They would witness the power of decentralization.

At the end of the day, it can be argued, Google is threatened by decentralization - and hence is taking these steps in panic.

Develop an AirDrop format such as the one adopted by earn.com, where new projects decide to give tokens for free in order to increase awareness of their projects. You could get paid in BTC or the project’s tokens in order to be the platform on which the project owners get to find their new potential investors.

I don't think Google stopping ads on crypto will have any huge impact on crypto. The reason google stopped ads on crypto is obvious It is not a great form of advertising and it is not as much profitable for google as other fields they are involved in.

I think google banning ads on crypto will give a good apportunity for crowdholdings to rise up in the industry and offering better services.

Short answer:
Absolutely nothing to significantly impact the state of crypto.

Long answer:
Nothing will happen. I just Google'd the following terms: "crypto" "cryptocurrency" "bitcoin" and "ethereum." NOT A SINGLE ADVERTISEMENT.
ICOs and Crypto Businesses don't even use Google ads right now, because it's honestly not that great of a form of advertising. They already have turned to other forms of marketing, and probably found them much more successful.

Crowdholding does have a great opportunity to offer our services to businesses and ICOs. If you were going to do such a thing, I would recommend offering the community as the lead. We can recommend marketing strategies to them, and they can get a wide variety of angles!

In my point of view it will not affect the industry.Okay i have always accept the fact that google have more user base than any other platform. But now a days people uses the social media sites effectively than any other platform. So crypto/ICO team can create a strong platform there in Facebook,Instagram,Twitter to do marketing there.People can directly get the info as news feed, sponsored in social medias.

Google is the most popular advertiser due to his large user base. So now developers will move towards the other popular advertisets like telegram, reddit, medium, twitter & a lot more. So no need to worry, no one can stop crypto.

If I make a comment - its usually honest and thoughtful. #dontfeedspamtrolls

The crypto community needs to stop relying on mainstream web services to support our crypto needs. (Google, FaceBook, Youtube & the current banking systems for example). We need crypto devs to create the tools that will eventually replace the current offerings in these spaces. There are some now like Brave Browser, Presearch, DuckDuckGo for web services.
If we can get more projects to cover our basic web needs - the crypto community will promote them organically and it will be this that leads to current mainstreamers demanding to be part of our world.
We have been looking at trying to break into mainstream, but really I see it as they will want to be part of our community if we can get rid of all the negativity surrounding crypto.

Menurut saya, google bukan satu-satunya mekanisme iklan. Kami memiliki media sosial seperti facebook, twitter, whatsapp di mana kami dapat melakukan pemasaran. Ini akan memiliki dampak lebih dari iklan google.

We cant stop it because there are many ponzi scheme in ICO most people fall for it thats why Google will ban it Facebook and twitter might do it also .

I don't use Google for the crypto. There is Telegram, Twitter, Reddit, Stocktwits, etc. So eventually people will find their crypto projects, and hopefully Google ends up promoting the good crypto projects also.
It is all about the learning curve, and everything unknown or uncontrolled receives resistance. At the end the decentralized crowd wins this battle, thats what this crypto revolution is all about.

Thanks Ruben. A good read. Please reach out to info@crowdholding.com

My opinion is that maybe is a good thing to prevent a lot of scam and ponzi schemes to spread on the global Google platform ADs, in other way this decision is bad to the good and genuine projects that would to advertise widely.

I suggest to improve the modern promotions like the blockchain model inside the crypto community that is growing everyday and be more a trustable source of efforts and projects.

In my opinion, google is not the only ad mechanism. We have social media like facebook, twitter, whatsapp where we can do the marketing. This will have more impact than google ads.

Others likely banning them too. Facebook certainly is. Telegram is cracking down.

I can't speak for others, but I am not usually persuaded by google or other online ads, and I wouldn't be persuaded to make an investment based on a google ad. I think this presents an opportunity for CH.

All social media is against crypto currency. therefore the alternate method of token & bounty sharing systems will give success crypto currencies .
Future ICOs and crypto business will need to use other forms of marketing. The Crowdholding innovation platform is a tool for direct community outreach through token sharing from tasks, including bounty sharing systems. Yes, this is the best way to lead crypto market.

well , as per my opinion advertising is THE most important part of marketing any product .. but crypto currencies are already quite well known and popular to us .. so it's future won't face any blow or any thing of that kind from this decision made by google ... however the future ICO and crypto business must look for other alternatives or other forms of advertising ..

Hello Sayani, can you elaborate on your statement that crypto businesses have to look for other forms of advertising? Perhaps, what role can Crowdholding play from your point-of-view?

It may hardly affecting the marketing strategies of CRYPTO firms depending on Google's ad. so every firm should find another platform to promote their products which should ensure maximum outreach to the people .On the other hand the banning ad for crypto currency will lead to a more genuine approach to the currency and it will tend to become a legal tender for transactions, besides banning helps to control the illegal cheating and mining. It results more independent cryptocurrency and more acceptability to it .Hence i believe that banning helps a lot.

Hey Tom, can you point out a bit what maximum outreach means? Since display ads are becoming less effective, how does post modern advertising for crypto companies look like? Will appreciate any elaboration. Cheers

Google ads are the best and most efficient way of promoting cryptocurrency start ups but I personally think Google banning crypto ads will bring a big downfall for the latest start ups. Maybe Facebook, Twitter promotions will do some good but not as much as Google ads! The best way next to Google Adsense for promoting Cryptos is probably social media promotions.

we all know that Google ads are very important and reliable source of advertisements.
Banning Google ads will adversely affect the crypto business very badly. It can depreciate the money being involved in the business and Crypto business would have to try other marketing strategies for the growth of the same.

Isn't that positive for the long-run evolving of the real value being created in the industry?

Google might forbid AdWords ads, but content marketing, viral marketing, youtube, influencer and bounties will be still there.
ICO startups will use different channels to promote their projects.

Crypto currency has created a Global position among other currencies and it had began to shake the so called tycoons of real currency, crypto currency is gaining popularity among almost all users, As with any other currencies which does not require an advertisement, so do the crypto currency, so banning ad for crypto currency will lead to a more genuine approach to the currency and it will tend to become a legal tender for transactions, also banning ad helps to control the illegal cheating and mining, also the Crypto currency will become more and more independent and most of the countries will start to accept it, So i strongly beleive that Stopping ad for crypto currency is good for its grat future

If plain ads are being stopped, how do you see the countermovement from the crypto industry?

I am certain this is great for crypto, because it leads to the following:
1. Clickbait ICOs and "get rich quick schemes" receive way less attention. This leads to number 2.
2. People will do more research on their own and some won't invest at all. Therefore, the average investor will be more informed, because there are less ads that "advise" fast and uninformed buying. This leads to number 3.
3. People will invest more sanely and the environment will grow more naturally, which might lead to number 4.
4. The cryptosphere will receive less of the rather undesirable attention it is receiving right now in media outlets and on the internet and return under the radar and only return to the surface when it is more evolved and, eventually, ready for mass adoption.

What other ways of ads and innovative marketing do you see for the industry?

Right now a combination of word of mouth and a clever use of influencer/opinion makers. Non-intrusive and proven to be working since centuries.

I'm not sure that this is bad, as some think. In any case, we, the promoters, will be able to earn more.

Signification time spent with enterprise software companies

I would be very direct to these companies and with your messaging on social media about how a crypto or ICO get braqnd awareness and circulate their message with potential users and investors since Google and Facebook are banning adds. I'd position it as a different way to attract brand awareness in addition to getting feedback from potential users of the platform and investors.

I think this news is huge for Crowdholding if you can get these companies to look at you as an alternative way to market since those dollars being allocated to google ads will now be ripe for the taking.

Typically when they ask for feedback that you want to submit to earn Yup and other tokens you have to take the time to provide a thoughtful response. Example of this I had no idea MeetnGreetme existed until I am to Crowdholding and now I planning to be a user and potentially investor of their token.

How Crowdholding can take advantage of this with their platform is by providing their customer who submit "surveys" with a platform to connect with an audience who doesn't know them. There is significant value in that especially considering Facebook, Google and now Twitter are banning crypto adds. As Crowdholding grows their user base it's clients will not only be able to engage and get feedback from more potential customers but also market to them and create brand awareness. If was Crowdholding I would be approaching as many crypto projects as I could and positioning this a platform as a way to engage and market to a potential new set of customers that is now open since most start ups allocate significant dollars to their marketing. The platform basically causes end-users to learn about the projects they are replying to to provide more thoughtful content and get a better chance at higher rewards. Each person that goes through this "education" process in order to respond has the potential choose to adopt as a end-user or token holder.

The challenge Crowdholding is going run into is how do they quantify that "education" or brand awareness to their platform's customers and what percentage of customers become either users or holders of the project's tokens. To solve that Crowdholding is going to want to invest in some strong analytics software to get this information so they can use that to create an ROI or business case for the customers they are trying to sell to joining the platform. I am not sure what analytics platforms can track this but if I was advising the Crowdholding team I would have them figure it out and add it to their platform. That way they can have an easier value proposition to their clients that they are selling to. This will lead to more companies adoption spending, more tokens rewarded per project and larger brands adopting which will all attract more end-users so they can get more con

Give us your insight on how to deal with / benefit from the ad ban

I personally think it is a good thing for a few reasons.

1. It stops the ICOs with the biggest budget simply steamrolling great innovative projects. Any website can get clicks and views if they have a huge marketing budget for Google Adwords.

2. It forces ICOs to think outside of the box and reach their communities in other ways, platforms like Crowdholding will be the future, as no longer will they be able to just spam people to come to their site, but will have to engage them through co-creation.

3. It gives more power to bounties, people will spread the word of the ICO that has either got the best bounty campaign or a project they believe in. Although bounties can be manipulated by offering large sums, it is still better than google Adwords.

The only thing I don't like is that Google is clearly trying to strangle crypto. It's just underhand tactics to break the price, so they can invest into it or scare off users of crypto.

It's the first step in the long demise of an evil empire called Alphabet. It's a curious pre-emptive strike against themselves as blocking crypto ads hurts their revenue and enables a blockchain alternative to take their place and cement themselves in the crypto community and eventually become a new google for everyone.

At this moment in the game google banning crypto ads does nothing, as there is not yet a lot of traffic. The next step google will take is censoring crypto searches. This will have a significant impact as people have grown to trust and depend on google to deliver accurate searches. But this has been a thing of the past for quite a long ime and the trend will accelerate. In big industry fields there are only the guys that pay on top. Their non paying competition is hidden on the google second page with the rest of the corpses.

There is still a great deal of speculation on the future of ICO and crypto among people. startups like CH can harness like situation by educating people and implementing makerting strategies including ads.

If future ICO's and others can not post their advertisment, people won't get fast informations about new projects as they used to. BUT, people with interest in crypto will be still searching using Google, YouTube, Twitter.
Solution: Go on more social platform (groups and other are not banned), be active on YouTube, follow trends, achieve basic milestones (Listing on CMC..)

Crowdholding could add a 'rate the ico' section. Here ico's can showcase their project: sale dates, elevator pitch, hard cap, link, etc. People will be able to vote, and comment on different key sections of the ico (Team, connections, idea, product, etc.). I run an online spreadsheet for rating ico's, I'd love to get an insight into the opinion of the crowd. Crowdholding could add a base rate yup needed to put the ico on the rating list. However; note that a lot of scam projects will be added as well. But hopefully the crowd can pick those out. If crowdholding is interested I could assist in the creation of this side project.

Hey Steven. That's exactly, but I doubt that it's actual to create a side project as you say. This should all be in the crowdfunding (ICO) part of the platform, the launch of which is scheduled for the summer 2018, according to whitepaper and roadmap. And on the basis of this I would say, that the team doesn't need to invent anything extra in the context of the "Google crypto ban". It seems to me, enough to follow the planned plan and just try to become the main adaptive crowdsourcing+crowdfunding platform, including for crypto startups (without obvious fails and scam). And I'm sure that to achieve this "status" Crowdholding team needs special, practical help from you Steven and from other strong members of the community.

Google is joining the legacy financial industry in fighting Crypto. Instead of adding disclaimers about risks in crypto, they opted to ban advertising. Since all their investment in fiat and they do control most of the internet (Search, Ads, etc.), they know what open currency will do for their investments. Shame on you Google - The open source company.

Hey.. Did they not realized? Google already have a lot income from cryptoworld
I think they will canceled that statement soon, if they know how potencial this bussiness.
Maybe someday google will create and release they own tokens 😀😎
Its only my opinion... and my wishes of course
