Having a referral program for CryptoTask. Give us your ideas!

Hello Crowdholders,

We recently released our roadmap. You can check out the details in our article here. As part of the roadmap, release 3.0 has us develop a referral program in order to bring on board more hirees and freelancers to the platform.

Referral programs can work great and get people engaged. But can sometimes add no value at all, if not done correctly. There is a fine line, and it is important to get it right.

That's where you come in.

Potentially some of you in the past have participated in a referral program. From the times you have participated or heard from others of a well-executed initiative, please share with us. Or even better, you may have a new brilliant idea for us to try!

Questions to consider:

What referral program works best in your mind? Can you give examples?

Any new and wild ideas we could try?

We look forward to the ideas!

Best,

CryptoTask Team

Since I came late I will say that referral programs are great and they really do make a site grow very fast, so it is very good.

But a way to verify the referral has to be employed to make it worthwhile.

Also doing adverts on social media, campaigns is a great idea.

referral program is very god as it is avery direct good way to increase the number of persons that can be found on the website and it is also very good to reward the user for the hard work that he/she has done to achieve that work.

the main thing to watch out for at this stage is to provide a means to be able to verify that the user is active before the ref bonus is given so that the system will not be abused.

and also organising special ref program from time is also a good way to make the ref program more worthwhile.

very nice initiative i think that everyone would love to hear this too.

referral program create awareness and also get networks of people to participate (work) in order to contribute to the growth of the business. Most successful multinational business( like multilevel marketing business) runs a referral program which in turn help their business to grow rapidly because it get networks people to participate(work) in their business.

I think the best referral programs are the simple one, when you have personal links and tools to share them quickly.

My suggestion is to try new concepts involving DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) and AI just to make the community of users feel they are joining a revolution and participating in the business and work structure of the future economy.

Thanks and good luck again!

I think what I have observed in recent times was people not like to register in websites , they prefer Telegram bots to save the time

Because how I know the stats is I have a telegram group and I constantly checking my referral links

The referral system that  have signup bonuses with lock in for completeing one task which can be selected by user existing in the paltform is one way.

You can then set time or task completion by new users before they get their own Refferal link.

Referee to get the benefit from referrals only after they have completed some tasks or time period which shouldnot of course be non cumbersome , which can be simple tasks like questions about how platform works and what is it designed for sort of.

Wish you a better future ahead.

1) Discourage users from spamming crypto forums and other forums. It can turn people off to your project

2) Abuse of referral systems in the cryptosphere is rampant. There are thousands of people out there who create multiple accounts under different addresses to abuse these systems, so you will want an anti fraud detection in place.

3) Make the rules VERY clear for both the referrer and the referee about exactly what is expected and required in order to qualify for the bonuses.

4) Don't use a system where you have the referree manually enter a code when signing up, unless you're offering them a bonus for USING THE CODE, and not just a bonus for signing up. Otherwise they are unlikely to use it and then the referrer gets no benefit from actively seeking referrals and they will abandon the program.

5) Be fairly generous w/the bonus for referrer to incentivise them. But not TOO generous. If too generous, it will encourage spamming of referral links. This is a tricky balance to find, because if it's not generous enough, people won't be incentivised.

6) One idea would be to have an application for referrers to prove they aren't spammers. Questions could include things like 1) do you have a blog or website (then ask for a link) 2) do you promise not to abuse the system and to not spam links where they aren't welcome? 3) where do you plan to share you referrals? Then choose the best applicants.

7) Have a membership/usership period requirement where users are required to be CryptoTask members and perform a certain amount of work before qualifying to be referrers. This means they will have some actual experience using the site before referring others to it, which increases the chances their referrals will be more meaningful, thoughtful, reflective of actual experience and not just spammy. Of course this limits your ability to get sign ups pre-Launch, but it may be worth the trade off.

8) programs where the reward involves getting a percentage of your referees future earnings is also an idea, as this encourages referrers to recruit quality people they believe will actually go on to use the site, rather than people who just sign up for the bonus.

Refferal programs should give a portion of the reward on sign up, so that the candidate knows that it's legitimate and so he can pursue the program to win the full reward.

Referrals are very good way to get people working and also to get things moving fast, so getting it right will be the best way to get things on the move.

1. For me everything that needs to be known about the referral program should be made known to the participants so that they will know how to use the programs.

2. They should be some of approved work before a referral is approved or before the referral commission is being paid. For example in remitano (a bitcoin trading site) you need to at least trade some amount of btc before the referral commission is given or the referral approved.

3. There should be referral commission for new referral it can based on work done or just for the first time. Since it's just starting I think commission on per work basis will be better.

4. Referral contest can be done and used to make user invite more referral, only confirmed referrals will be added they can be confirmed using some form of kyc process.

Referral program is always a good way to work faster.

1. Do not give any user a referral link until the person has worked/taken up at least 2 jobs or posted at least 1 job (in the case of employers). The job must be completed to activate the referral link. Quora employs this for its space admins. I am one. If you run a space on Quora, you need to hit 500-1000 followers to activate a personal link for your space as well as your space avatar. In essence, when Cryptotask is launched, no one should have a referral link until a job is completed.

2. Users who bring in a specific number of active referrals continuously can be given a reduction in fees for some number of jobs taken up. For instance, if Al Wallace refers 15 people to Crytotask, you can let him pay 2% (instead of the normal 3%) in fees for 2 or 3 jobs he takes up. If he gets another 20 referrals, you give him that benefit again. You can modify it however you want.

3.  I don't know if this has been tried before but are there referrals in image/video format? If no (or yes), you can try them out. Personally, I haven't seen one before. All my referrals on every site have been in text format. Since video/images work better and have more engagement compared to text, you can give users personal video/image-based referral links. The video should be short (about 15 or 20 seconds) and should summarise what Cryptotask does. You might even be the first to do it and who knows what it might lead to and the number of people it can bring in.

As a side note, Ethan, you can employ this for Crowdholders. It can be revolutionary.

Just a common Crypto enthusiast.. Wait crypto is not common it's special :)

It seems you are getting closer to the formal launch. Hope to see your launch happens soon. I am eager to see what kind of freelance jobs you offer.

Regarding the referral program you are spot on that it needs to be managed well or it will not be useful. I have seen referral program of several projects and you should leverage the best practices from the ones which have been most successful. The following tips will get you started on a good footing:

  • Referral Limit- This is successfully implemented by Uptrennd site. They don't give referral option unless you have actively spent 2 weeks on the site. This ensure referrals are sent only by users who are already familiar with the site. They also increase the referrals you can send as you spend more time on the site.
  • Locked Incentive- To promote more referrals you will have to give some incentive to users but you need to make sure you only incentive for referrals that are active and worth the incentive. Good example is Coinbase which gives incentive for referral only after the person you referred has created a n account and purchased a set limit of coins. You can use a similar approach that referral bonus is only given after the referred person does 2-3 freelance jobs successfully

All the best for your launch!

To ensure that referrals are legit, I propose lifetime referral bonus. So that, people only earn when their referrals complete a task

Karen M guru

Bonus referral program is always nice!

While referral bonuses are great I think there needs to be a better way of both attracting users and keeping them active on the site, so probably a referral program where use of the site is incentivised would lead to more active users. One good idea might be implementing a system where you can use CTF for transactions or rewards giving them an incentive to purchase a service using the CTF. Such as a discount or cash back if CTF is used as payment.

Sign-up bonus is a good incentive to initially attract users. Later they will be able to withdraw it only if they perform any tasks. Referral bonus is a must to increase users and hirees. Can use gleam.io to create tasks or directly from crowdholding itself to increase awareness.

From your perspective it would likely be best to reward the referral of active users only.  i.e. you send somebody to cryptotask and get rewarded if/when they post or take a job.  Rather than just a sign-up.   This way you know you're rewarding value that's being brought to your ecosystem, rather than just passers-by.

From an affiliates point-of-view I'm personally most attracted to multi-tier affiliate programs, i.e. I also get rewarded if those I refer also refer others.  Potentially better for me to take 1% from a potentially limitless number of people, than 5% from those I might manage to sign up myself.   Kucoin are one example of a crypto project who employed this well when they first launched to grow rapidly.

Can't think of any new or wild ideas off-hand - will pop back if anything comes to mind.  I do like the security / equity token thing I've seen a few projects in the space doing recently.  Where those who help to grow the platform are rewarded with a tangible share in its' success.  Arguably this is true of utility tokens to a more-or-lesser degree - but STOs seem to be more attractive than ICOs these days...

Karen M guru

I'm not sure I agree with your first part, Tim. For example, if I sign up and actively search for jobs but don't find one I qualify for or want, then you don't think I should still be rewarded. I'm active, just didn't take a job.... The rest of your post I agree.ni also like the tier structure.

Hey Karen. I was talking more towards the affiliate / referral program, rather than some kind of individual sign-up bonus. Though arguably the same still applies. While I have no doubt that you yourself would participate in good faith, for every person who does, there will be a dozen who would sign up simply to claim the reward, if there weren't some kind of restrictions in place. Just as for every genuine comment tasks receive at Crowdholding, there's a plagiarist, or a spammer.

Crowdholding in fact initially offered a sign-up reward, it now looks like they reward that bonus on first comment instead. Which is in line with my recommendation here.

Just a common Crypto enthusiast.. Wait crypto is not common it's special :)

What you said Karen is really valid. Some platforms like Uptrennd and Brave put a time based limit that the referred people need to spend a few weeks or a month before the referral incentive is given.

Don't listen to me because of who I am, I'm nobody like everone else.

I've used hundreds of referral programs over the years.

When I think about whats worked best it is really all about how well they convert traffic into users, and how much each converted user is worth.

I can't think of a specific example of this right now but one thing that can help is multiple landing pages: for example a different page to send potential employers to where you would send potential freelancers, with each page designed to optimally convert that type of traffic.

First off, congrats on your continued progress! Many of us are looking forward to official launch. As far as referral ideas--all the usual Medium, Facebook etc. Some folks are involved with other crypto forums where they can invite those users to Cryptotask (be careful though, some don't permit outside links). Make our link easy for us to find and share. I know Coinbase has a learn and earn program. Teaching crypto enthusiasts about cryptotask will surely get many of them interested. A bonus could be offered for signing up to Cryptotask AND Crowdholding.
