Hello Crowdholders,

In case you’re not familiar with Brave browser, it is much more than just a browser. Brave is open source and built by a team of privacy focused, performance oriented pioneers of the web. If you have not tried it, please do. You can install it directly from the Brave website.

For those who are Brave users or are new to Brave, we have a simple question for you.

While using Brave, what issues or pain points do you have with the browser?

Basically, where have you discovered faults or issues that might be counter-intuitive when using other browsers like Google or Safari.

Let the feedback begin!

Note: Brave and CH are not partners. We use the BAT tokens we have earned through referrals from Brave and are given them to you. We always make sure to email Brave the feedback from these tasks.

I live and work online, and Chrome [78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)] has been my primary browser for over ten years. I'm a Mac (macOS Catalina ) user that lives in the Google ecosystem as well. I run several GSuite / Gmail accounts in my browsers and use multiple user profiles in my browsers based on my various work needs. I also occasionally use FireFox (71.0), Opera (65.0.3467.62), and Tor (9.0.2) when needed.

I have been an active Brave (Version 1.0.1) user for several weeks, and it's easily my favorite over FireFox and Opera. While I still do move back and forth between Chrome and Brave, I'm finding myself gaining more comfort with Brave. I appreciate that I can use all of my imported Chrome profiles, extensions, and color themes in Brave, but I'd like to be able to add my user profile images to each user profile within the browser to perfectly mirror my Chrome browser. Likewise, I'd like to be able to customize the main home screen background image.

I have also synced my Brave browser on my iPhone, and I received the 20 BAT sign up bonus. I am confused about how to use it/access it, as it hasn't posted to my Uphold Wallet yet. For the record, I love Uphold, and I'm beta testing their debit card. While I've seen complaints about its integration, I enjoy it.

When version 1.0 launched, I did experience the issues with my ads not showing up on macOS Catalina, but after being active with the great support in the Brave Community, that has since been rectified and is working fine.

Overall, I do not have complaints, just suggestions for complete end-user customization capabilities. Thanks for your hard work on this awesome project, and I look forward to being a Brave user for decades to come.

Jeremy, many of us on here have problems with syncing. It's also a common complaint that the ads are very sporadic. I keep using Brave anyway because I believe the issues will get worked out over time, and it's a great browser.

My biggest complaint is that i often get ads in spurts. In other words, for one hour I will get a lot of ads. Then I won't get any for many hours. Then they come all at once again. It makes no sense why it is this way. To be fair, it isn't always like that. Sometimes they are much more evenly dispersed, but often it is that way.

Other than that I love it

I really like the Brave browser but adverts seem to not be working well. I think that this the main issue I had so far with brave.

The ads are sometimes sporadic for me. I may get 3 in one hour, then sometimes, none. But they all add up in the end.

i use brave from time to time, but for now it is not my main browser, it is because i have been using chrome for a long time and i m very use to it, i usually try to use the brave browser from time to time so that i will be able to earn through it but thus far i have only earned about 0.07 dollars from it, very small if  i may say the ads don't come up such as i set and i only get like 1ads per week.

i really like the browser a lot, but the ads system seems to not be working well. i think that this part of the browser needs to be work on also.

the ads blocking aspect of the browser is working top notch and i think this is the main reason why it is been used by many other persons also.

I've been using Brave on my Android Galaxy phone, tablet and I haven't received any rewards in BAT yet only a 10.0 BAT bonus in the beginning.

Something needs to be done for quality control as it's disappointing to leave another platform and not to receive the promised rewards which made you switch in the first place!

Disappointed to say the least!

I've been using Brave as main browser for a couple of weeks now... Both on Linux and android. So far it seems to be running at a normal condition, had a check at some of the comments to realise the main issue seems to be with BAT wallet which I didn't really tested so far... Although I noticed something strange when running YouTube from the browser. For some reason (which I still didn't figured out) Youtube autoplay runs constantly in a loop of only two tracks, never assuming a different video/music as next in autoplay... Although it seems strange, opening YouTube from other browsers, autoplay seems to work fine.

It might not be seen as an issue of big matter, although for me, which like to hear music while working, has some importance.

For some reason, when running through a VPN, everytime I press enter to open up a page, the page it lands is error Network Changed, being the page automatically refreshed after a second to display then the requested page.

Is there any feedback on this two issues or are they new reports?

In any case Brave project seems to be worth the effort. Keep it up

This is a very wonderful browser and i use it from time time, i don't use it as my main browser but i use it a lot. most times i use it when i want to browse through a website that has a lot of ads because i know that it does a very good job to block out ads. But the thing i don't understand about is that even though i set the browser to show ads it has never shown me any ads since i started using the browsers so i have not earn from it since, don't really know why though. but a great browser so far.

I am using Brave browser on my mobile and two desktops from a long time and now a I am getting BAT tokens as well.

But there are some issues I am facing now days. The browser stops to work when it is running in background while using other applications on my mobile and it starts to poping up a message that "unfortunately Brave browser stopped to work". This only happening on my phone. The same issue was with the previous version as well.

2nd thing, your sync system is not working properly. Token are showing on my one desktop browser but after syncing it is not showing on my mobile phone' browser and on another desktop's browser.

Overall, my experience with Brave browser is satisfactory and I will continue to use it.

I see that I can now verify my Brave wallet on my desktop in order to send Bat. I know the option for android is coming but isn't here yet. Some of us have posted about 'sync' not syncing. For example, on my android, it shows all Bat I have earned from ads, but on my desktop, the wallet is practically empty.(I hardly use my desktop). But my account should still show my total. I"m concerned that if I verify my wallet on desktop, I can't do anything with the Bat I have since it doesn't show on desktop.....then will that mess me up when its available for android? Has anyone else tried this yet? Please share your experience/results. Thanks

I really love the browser interface, the fast speed it has and the rewards just enhance this overall experience. I will use it in the future for sure, it's way more better than the other data-collecting browsers.

One thing I would pin-point, because I had couple problems related to this issue. It's fancy that you integrated the metamask wallet into the browser, but for some reason, I downloaded the Metamask extension too and it keeps mixing two different account. Now I imported booth into one each other, but it was annoying to find a solution to integrate them together. The main problem was that your Brave integrated wallet does not have recovery key to import into Metamask as an existing wallet, at least I couldn't find nowhere the solution, the browser kept mixing them up and because of this I couldn't activate the web3 interface.

It's not a huge issue, it's just annoying to have multiple different wallets, in one browser, but the dark-mode helps me forget this little problem.

Thank you and I hope my words were informative and useful!

The brave team has done a good job, however I use brave less bow because when linking a web wallet it takes a hell lot of time before completing sync. I don't know if that has changed because I had to stop using brave.

I've been using Brave for a long time now and I think that the most annoying thing is the wallet access as well as some of the website interactions that try to connect my brave wallet to other crypto based websites that end up in me having to use those websites on different web browsers. I think having the ability to choose when Brave can access the website wallet will help fix this problem. It is just a hassle that I disconnected my wallet so that it wont happen anymore.

I use Brave Browser by Default on PC but not in Android. You've done a great job. This list is no way to be considered criticisms, rather an opportunity to improve. Here's a list of suggestions:

  • An easy way to report a web page that does not work in Brave but does on Chrome.
  • Does not sync properly with Android.
  • Uphold wallets don't sync with Android.
  • Ability to add url to welcome screen, not just an option to pin or remove frequently used urls.
  • Login option to save settings.
  • Ads are very repetitive.
  • Built-in wallet rather than Uphold.

Keep up the great work.

Intelligent, Insightful, Fast, Dedicated

There are really only three things that bothered me when I initially started using the browser.  I think that they are fairly simple to fix as the only action necessary are a few extra bold words in the right places.

The first problem that I had was this: getting metamask for the Brave browser.  Beause of the way that it is stated on the metamask page it seems impossible to add metamask to brave.  When you go to the metamask website there is no option to add metamask to BRAVE.  The option that flashes in the center of the screen is 'Get Chrome Extension.'  I stewed upon this and revisited the same page repeatedly.  Much more repeatedly than I would have liked to.  If a notification was added to the site from BRAVE explaining that adding the CHROME extension will actually add metamask to my BRAVE browser it would be very helpful in alleviating the confusion.

The second is ease of access to funds in the brave wallet that is natively part of the browser.  At the bottom it explains that you need to have an Uphold account in order to verify the wallet.  I just think it would be a little better if this instruction was a little more prevalent in the BRAVE Rewards drop-down menu.  It would be even nicer if the Brave Reward dropdown tab could shortcut you through the Uphold wallet sign up process before directing you to the actual site.

The third and final thing that I think should have some clarification would be this.  A simple dropdown notification when pop-ups and redirects have been blocked on a site (making it work incorrectly.)  The dropdown notification could say this: "Keep clicking the same button but nothing will load?  Try unblocking 'pop-ups and redirects' in your site settings (only for trusted sites)."  This text could be a link to the site settings under the settings for that specific site or it could just drop down the regular lion-head menu options that regularly are used, highlighting the 'pop-ups and redirects' toggler.

These simple fixes I think would really smooth out the Brave experience a great deal for those who are just getting into crypto and discovering what a crypto wallet is and how to use it.  Most people, in the beginning, don't know much of anything.  I didn't even know the difference between Ethereum and Bitcoin and I had no idea how a wallet worked.  I didn't understand metamask at all and it took me about a half hour to realize that the Chrome extension would install metamask for my Brave browser.  It is just a little misleading because Chrome is it's own browser.  Brave is not Chrome, yet when trying to get metamask extension there was no differentiation in the instruction of how to get it for one browser and how to get for the other.

I hope that this is helpful.

    Sincerely,

       Jonathan Caleb Williams

Don't listen to me because of who I am, I'm nobody like everone else.

The only thing that I can really say bothers me is that when I turned on the adverts I get a very limited range of different ads with the same one coming up again and again, which can be a little annoying when its a notifcation on my phone as I find these more intrusive than any ads on desktop so can annoy me a bit more easily.

I'm sugar, spice and everything nice

As a browser, it's okay but not so fantastic to beat the competition of Opera and Chrome. For me, pages load at a slower rate. Though, to be fair, I can't really say it's slower than Chrome.

Which brings me to the point of other incentives to use Brave. I love the whole idea of tipping creators and publishers. I don't like that they're are restricted to the Uphold platform because I know some great creators I would prefer to support but they can't get onboard with uphold with the whole KYC.

Another is that Brave ads are unavailable in my country. Well I rationally don't see this as the fault of Brave but it is still something to complain about.

I've been using Brave for a while now. For the most part, I am very happy with it. There are a few downsides though. When I go to sites thru Brave, that I visit regularly, I have to enter my password to that site (Google keeps me logged in. Also, I've had issues where I go to Church thru Brave and post or reply, then if I go back to Ch thru Google, the post isn't showing. Third, even though I hardly use my desktop computer, I did download Beave and sis the 'sync' to my phone. The rewards don't always match up between my phone and my computer. Lastly, I'm not sure how they decide which ads to show us ; but I recently received one which was a scan copy of PYNK ( a take we did here)  My concern is, if we click some of those ads, are we going to end up with malware?

Sam BTC expert

Just a common Crypto enthusiast.. Wait crypto is not common it's special :)

I have always been a big fan of Brave since the first time I heard about it. So many advantages- it makes our browsing experience faster, blocks out all adware and malware lurking behind the sites we visit and on top of that providing incentives like creator rewards and ad rewards.

I was so convinced with Brave that after BTC and ETH, it is BAT that holds the biggest part of my crypto portfolio. The reason for my conviction in their long term potential is that they have the scope to reach and connect with each and every internet user in the world which will make it reach a global user base that even BTC and ETH can't dream about.

However just having a great plan and mission will not suffice, they need to ensure their implementation is as good as the plan. I want to share some aspects which I strongly believe Brave needs to address in the near future if it wants to replace Chrome as the de-facto browser and establish it's token BAT as one the most popular cryptocurrency.

1. Ad Rewards Model- First of all this was a tricky area for them since the beginning. If they wanted to place themselves as a browser that is focused on user convenience by removing all ads then why did they retain they put the Ad Rewards program. The answer is simple if there are 0 ads there are 0 revenues and the project can't sustain itself. So they put in place a model where users get a big part of the ad revenues for watching the ads. However they could have been implemented it in a more structured way and by making their plans transparent to all the users from the beginning. They received a lot of flak for the way some countries were included some were not. Some had higher pay out rates and some low. Most of the users faced some glitches while using the ads, many were not clear how to access the BAT they earn. In fact initially people could not take out the BAT at all, and later Brave added the option to cash out BAT

2. Marketing and Awareness- Brave has been around for more than 4 years still it does not have a user base that can come anywhere close to Chrome. And people generally switch browsers very fast if they are convinced about it's benefits. Do you remember how fast Mozilla replaced Internet Explorer and then how fast Chrome replaced Mozilla. Brave is currently focused only on the crypto community which forms a very small part of the population. To ensure global adoption they need to use broader marketing channels like publicizing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. Currently the main attraction for users is free BAT which is still not a stable and universal model. They need to publicize more about other benefits like faster browsing and malware/spyware blocking.

3. Operational Glitches- With more than 4 years since launch you can not call yourself a Beta. If you go to any forum like reddit or steemit it is filled with user complaints about disappearing BATs, creator rewards lost in transaction, extensive KYC requirement for Uphold account, users are not give private keys. You need to keep things simple so even people with no background in crypto can feel comfortable using it.

I hope Brave puts in place a clear strategy to resolve all on-going challenges so it can claim the most popular Browser position in 2020.

I use Brave on my computer and smart phone, it's great to use it, I don't have to worry about unwanted advertisements.
The only thing that bothers me is that at least that happens to me, even if you have set the browser to my language it is still in another language, with no option to translate pages. Whereas in google chrome almost automatic, websites in other languages are translated.
Regarding the gain with ad viewing that Brave sends, it has not happened as we configure, for example receiving 5 ads per hour, I have barely received 1 per hour.
These details could be evaluated. Thanks

Overall Brave is great, I use it on computer and on mobile daily.

however, as a user of NoScript on firefox (on computer at least) I find the script blocking ability is lacking in fine tuning.

By that I mean that I'm used to authorize scripts from the website itself (legit scripts) but usually blocks scripts coming from other sources than the websites(usually third party adds), which allows me to keep the content of the website without the adds.

Maybe I have not looked enough but Brave doesn't seem to allow that, I can only block all scripts or allow all, no middle ground. If there is, it is not easily found nor intuitive at all.

Other than that, the browser sometimes auto tip even when I have the auto tip off, and big tips at that.

Yea it's time to feud. Why is your browser so good? You guys, why do you reward us with BAT tokens and also reward content creators with the same? You even give us the luxury of setting whatever amount of tokens we want our content creators to have. You block all ads to give internet users peace of mind from all the disturbing popups and banners that bombard our webpages day in and day out. Don't you know that you are causing a lot of people to switch to the Brave browser? Again, you even annoy us by giving us real-time statistics on the number of trackers blocked, ads blocked, https upgrades and even time saved! Who does that? To annoy us further, you have such beautiful images for our home pages to the extent that we don't even know which ones to use. Be very careful. To improve user privacy, you even want to introduce ZkSense which no one has ever done before nor even tried. Why do you always want to stay ahead of your competitors? Don't you know it's not good for their health?

Even right now just think about how you've convinced all Crowdholders to start using Brave. Because of you, we've started convincing our friends to start using it too. You want to make us addicted. In fact, we are. Pray I don't meet you because if I do I'll use you till you run out of breath.

Awkardly Canadian...

Honestly, this browser is fantastic.  For a while, I wondered if the formatting or functionality of the websites I visited would be compromised.  I thought that completely blocking ads would surely disrupt my online environment & make websites difficult to navigate, or outright break them.  However, it seems that this is not the case as I am consistently enjoying a much cleaner canvas while I surf and consume online content.  I'd like to tip my hat to the team for maintaining usability without sacrificing loading times or compatibility.

I would like to be able to sync tabs between my mobile and desktop Brave browsers.  I do have the sync chain enabled, but It doesn't appear that open tabs are being shared between these devices.  I would also enjoy more opportunities to earn BAT, but I'm sure these will grow as more people adopt the Brave browser.

Overall, I'm excited for Brave & BAT.  The modern internet ecosystem presents huge compromises to our privacy as we are being relentlessly farmed for user data, behavior, & intent.  What's worse, this rampant abuse has gone largely unnoticed by a shocking percentage of internet users.  Because of the profitability tied to digital ad revenue, the sites we visit are becoming nearly impossible to enjoy due to click-bait, pop-ups, sneaky native advertising, and stories being spread across 10+ pages just so we have to refresh & be served a new set of banners.  Not only is it tiring on the eye, it's very harmful to our computers.

I applaud your efforts to give the internet back to the user, and am excited to see what the future has in store for Brave Browser.  Keep going strong, we are with you.

Cheers,

Kevin Angus

Here's an issue that isn't a big deal but it's important to know about:

If I'm not mistaken, the Brave crypto wallet is activated by default upon install. Some crypto/blockchain novices might not know this. I personally use MetaMask and Dapper. At this point it is well known that it can cause technical difficulty to have two digital wallets open at the same time, so it's important to know to deactivate the native wallet when using Web3 extensions like MM and Dapper.

Turning off the Brave wallet solves this problem. Just FYI.

It is the best browser but i have a problem with syncing brave on various devices. I've been using brave from 8 months but they still havent got a solution for this. Can only sync bookmarks and not history and passwords.

There really isn't a thing that is bad about Brave. I have been using it over a year now, and quite frankly, beyond the initial getting used to being more in charge of what gets blocked and what doesn't and the growing pains initially associate with that, there really is nothing that another browser has that makes it better than Brave. Now that ads are available to earn BAT, there is really no browser that is better.

I’m software developer/team leader for 15+ years

I use the Brave App on iOS and so far I’m pretty satisfied with it.

i would like to have the same reward features of the website, which I don’t use so often.
