Liberland Academy: Exploring education that values the free market

Wealth is not created by redistribution in society, but by voluntary exchange of goods or services between two parties. Since the exchange is voluntary, it is imitated only in the cases which bring added value (increasing utility) to both parties.

This principle, so deeply rooted in human nature, has been "newly discovered" and described in academic phenomenal work written by Adam Smith in 1776 - Wealth of Nations.

Since that time, the economy, as a science describing relations within societies, became a standard scientific and academic topic.

The theory of free markets, followed by other authors (to name some) Bastiat, Mises, Hayek, Friedman, has been proved by many real cases, and as such proved more evident for free-market hypotheses and theories.

20th century - thanks to Keynesian economics, much appreciated and supported by socialistic politicians -  brought the fall of free market being substituted by prevailing socialistic aspects: Regulation, high level of redistribution of resources by governments, monopolies, the growing definition of public goods etc. All of those are basically dragging the economic prosperity, freedom and ultimately equality significantly down.

Liberland is envisioning and adoring countries like Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Hongkong or Singapore, having seen the correlation between economic freedom and wealth of the society.

Being built on free-market roots, going far and deep with crypto and blockchain, Liberland has attracted interest and understanding from many academical corners, universities, freedom think-thanks, various liberty institutes etc. Both lecturers and students.

As such it represents a great magnet and potential to become a hub of thoughts of this type, with its decentralized approach, reaching possible global overlap.

Dozens of global experts have already expressed interest to lead lectures on such a university, and take a role in such a project.

In the era of remote education systems, becoming more efficient than traditional ways, the project could attract a very wide audience of both free/paid formats, issuing international accreditations and education certificates and grades.

This task together with Liberland Chamber of Commerce is to define and fine-tune the vision to complement a sustainable business plan, in order to build a core team and invite important partners to start.

The global university system is not perfect, and as the speed of technology and learning tools evolve, so must education. So here is what we need:

Give us examples of recent university practices you like and should be considered for Liberland Academy.

Come up with ideas on how you would go about starting a university that caters these values.

We look forward to your feedback!

I would like the Education System to implement the following:
1) Teachers keep up with world innovations, there are countries that develop technology in certain areas, and that make them work according to the resources of each region, we need education to go hand in hand with technology.

2) That students have access to e-books with less cost.

3) That most people have access to education, and that the lack of resources is not a reason not to study. That a socioeconomic study be established to allocate student fees, for those who cannot cover the expenses. In this way the students would not leave with large student debts.

4) That universities provide more student scholarships.

That for the technical careers, places where the students can develop the internship are looked for so that the study complements it with the practice.

What I suggest to Liverland Academy:

1) Liberland Academy could start offering free courses to make themselves known, subjects that can be validated in other universities and colleges. This with the idea of expanding worldwide.

2) Liberland's idea of reinventing itself in this model of the universities of the future, this is a project that in the future will have a lot of strong competition in the Market, because of that Liberland has to start this Project as soon as possible.

3) Liberland could create a crowdfunding campaign to finance this new University, through social networks and crowdfunding websites to gather investors and obtain funds for this Project.

Once you are focused on a decentralized crypto economy, your students should be guided to specific mental patterns capable of inducing what can be called “gig-economy know-hows”. They should be taught to distinguish conventional business models based on the centralized monetary systems from the emerging network-centric state-agnostic cases having roots in such contemporary phenomena as globalization, virtualization, and decentralization.

Your curriculum might include the following topics:

1) Blockchain 101: how distributed ledgers work and why they disrupt the very way we come to a consensus;

2) The problem of proof in transactions: redundancy of intermediaries (banks) in crypto;

3) Bitcoin case: why the State monopoly on money issuing doesn’t work anymore;

4) Uberization of services: how information technologies change the way we reach products and services;

5) Person-as-a-brand: why self-employment is a crucial capability for future workers;

6) Pros and cons of universal basic income in the light of the evolving crypto economy;

7) Socially responsible projects: how to think beyond costs-&-profits business models

8) Scam at crowdfunding: the emergency of new ethics in the era of cashless economy;

9) Unicorn phenomenon: why revolutionary startups can outperform mighty corporations;

10) Cryptocurrencies: how the values migrate from real-world assets to virtual ones;

11) Micro jobs as a viable solution for the overpopulated planet;

12) Nodes and oracles: how self-governing networks disrupt outdated social models

13) Interfaces matter most: how gamification change industries

etc.

Your education program should not be limited with the few above-mentioned topics, of course. But a general objective of the entire course should be in revealing of numerous opportunities the gig economy can represent to your students. Once crypto reinvents the way how people interact with money, your students should grasp both social transformations and technological achievements which make crypto so promising. They should realize that becoming gigs and crypto activists is not just optional to succeed in the foreseeable future – this is a must-have feature they have to obtain.

Hope my modest contribution to your project can help. Good luck!

Well, first, if your institution is all about free market and the "invisible hand", then I guess there should be no government subsidies for tuition, as a matter of principle. An extremely interesting idea, though not sure how pragmatic it would be, is to even let potential students try to negotiate their educational fee. That's something that would absolutely align with your values and it has also never been done before. I think you'll find that it not only teaches potential students valuable lessons before they even entered the door, but you might find it surprisingly profitable (similar to an experiment years ago where people "paid what they want" for items in a grocery store). What do you think?

education is the only thing to explore the wisdom and  we should keep learning the knowledge whole life time

It should  not be commercialised totally and the values are more important , Inviting most successful people to universities to present  motivational classes  and awareness of adapting new technologies is very important

I hope all very good to your university :)

In this age of our educational system were things always seems to go wrong, i will say that care also has to be put into making the teachers better also along side the students, because the way in which teachers neglect their duty to the students is very wrong and seems to be very uncalled for.

If i were to talk on any educational practices i will talk about those that will help the teachers and also help the students as much, because if the teacher is not well trained the effect will be fully seen on the students maybe not neccessarily in his/her result but in the students personal behaviour and attitude towwrds the good of others.

So nice program to check include.

  • weekly or monthly interactive meeting between the teachers and the students.
  • Functioning opinion box provided to the students.
  • Full functioning mentorship system.
  • Social activities that involve both the lectures and the student.
  • Given responsibility to the student to bear (has to be done in a way as not to affect the student)

These ways will greatly improve the students teachers relationship thus paving way for better mutual understanding and increase performance both the teacher and the student.

At age and time, there has been a paradigm shift from traditional sitting in classroom to learn online at one's comfort location, and time. In MOOC online University where there is provision for free courses, where one can learn for free, then pay to get the certificate. Instead you guys can make two categories, paid and free courses which offers of certificate at the end of successful completion. Also, since in parts of the world there are no stable internet connections, there should be a provision of viewing the lessons offline. The need of having a rich curriculum content with lots of practice and using real life situation scenarios to help student to understand and apply what they have learned, has to made one of the top priorities.

Lessons offline are truly necessary. Internet is a headache for some of us really. Good for pointing that out.

I believe the university may be considered a retail operation where your buildings and such are great for meeting people but not cost effective.  At one time there was a place on the internet that paid you to take programming classes.  Coinbase earn has come out giving away free crypto and republic is paying you in what is warrants or whatnot for learning how to put up a decentralized internet.  In another instance of the clueless leading the clueless they talk about the government paying for education along with how most families don't own shares while hundred, maybe thousands of dollars are given away free.  It's possible that paying for internet service instead would solve both problems.  The reaction to what Tek does can be brutal.  The socialists in this country clearly have no idea of trends.  Certainly a well stocked library with info about free classes could be useful.  Certainly there are many educational companies that would be interested in a partnership but they should not run the joint because that would stiffle innovation.

I like to comment and express my experiences, so that they help others

I like the idea of Liberland, of creating a duly accredited world university, and the degrees they are going to grant are recognized in any country in the world, it is a great idea.

Many students are eager to study with the educational modality of e-learning, because students save transportation, food and time.
The study programs  in the era we are living, may well be developed from the place where the student is through video classes, and so the teacher develops the content of his class as if he were in a classroom and at the same time the class is recorded, so that the student can listen to it more times. It’s a great advantage.

Nowadays, textbooks in schools are updating them every 2 years, and the world moves faster than that. The teachers very comfortably follow the textbook, without taking into account that there is already an innovation and that the teacher should explain that.
We need universities to keep up with global science and technology; This means that the student is informed at the same time that science or technology changes, and they must apply what best will benefit the student with his professional objective.

5) That universities create short careers and make the education system  more diversified, more than what the traditional universities have. With a diversity of careers until world unemployment would level down.

6) That the new universities carefully observe the world needs in labor, professional, economic and social welfare matters so that in this way they create the new careers for a better development in this modern world.

That for the technical careers, places where the students can develop the internship are looked for so that the study complements it with the practice.

What I suggest to Liverland Academy:

First of all, I will open my discussion with a question; Is the current educational system up to the mark?
Our current education system is not up to the mark because the current education system is just preparing student from one grade of the education system to the next one. If you are in a school their object is basically to educate you so you can get an admission in the university and then in the university when u are enrolled in bachelor program there you have an education system which basically prepares you mostly for the master program and then master programs are there to prepare you for the PhD. So if a student graduate in a 3-year bachelor program and decide not to pursue his studies but to start the new journey of his life by working in a company. He will face allotting of challenges and that is because he is not being prepared for this task. I am not saying that the education system is useless but how much we will need our studies in our practical life once we started to work.
Most education systems try to focus mostly on theoretical education which is not bad but I think the better education system will be that where a student is being educated with some basic theoretical knowledge and more focused on the practical activity like more labs experience and assignment or a project to implement. You may forget what you have learned but you will never forget what you have practiced in a lab or by completing a project in the class.
If I am going to open a university I will not focus on the syllabus but will target each student individually. So if a student wants to study, let say, engineering but he also loves to cook or play sports I think the university should be the only place for him to join where he will learn to engineer and also some special classes like cooking and sports classes that will be included in his total credit. In Italy, 180 credits are needed to complete a bachelor degree so If I am going to open a university I will give the student what they want to learn also the education in which they have a passion or love to do.
One of my housemate who completed his Ph.D., which was in chemistry, and his Ph.D. was in finding a cure for cancer. I asked him that what will happen to the project on which he is working as he is not completed his Ph.D. so he responded that the project will shut down. This is insane as 3 year someone work on a project and once he is done that project will be dead. So if the university is going to start a Ph.D. research in a field, there needed to be a proper follow-up and if a research is going to be dead it should be closed with proper explanation.

I don't think the economics of either Adam Smith or Keynes will be relevant with the newer advent of a decentralized economy alongside the traditional economy. I find it interesting that you dismiss economics of the 20th century, particularly when it was the century with the most progress across the board of various human values. During which century did the most people gain access to healthcare or education? During which century did life expectancy increase the most? During which century did the most people have more access to food, shelter and water? During which century did soldiers deaths during active duty reduce the most? The answer to all of those questions is the 20th Century (references - Enlightenment Now, Factfulness, and Utopia for Realists).

So I call into question the support of catering to the free market values you've idealized. Moreover, Randy Tice called out other practical issues that need to be addressed first, before reaching for ideals. Therefore, I share a wholly different idea. That is, education does not fit into a traditional, this-for-that, economy. Education involves a criss-cross of interchanges that is a constant 2-way street.

Simply by participating in education, students increase the value of that education. From the (so-called) "best and brightest" come new ideas that contribute to the teacher's understanding of the subject at hand. Even those struggling to understand a topic bring the challenge and opportunity for a teacher to explain a concept in simpler terms or from a different perspective.

Blockchain and cryptocurrencies offer an opportunity to reimagine an education economy that works for everyone. Some classes may be more valuable to some students than others, should they cost the same price. Also, some students' participation and contributions to classes enhance their value, should they not be somehow compensated for that? Some students might be more able to contribute to operational or practical delivery of education itself, while learning. Why do we not extend them this opportunity?

Like I said, blockchain and cryptocurrencies offer a means to reimagine the economy, rather than rehash previous ideals. That is the future of education I would like to see Liberland Academy work toward.

Free market theory one of the best way of the human history and it has many benefits. I really wanted to thank to the free market founders and supporters in 18th century.. I also know little about John Maynard Keynes, who's ideas has changed the world understanding about economics in 20 century.. We are havin economic prosperity and freedom because of that English man.. I want to thank him too..

The Liberland have great and unique concept which is very advantageous for their citizens and investors. Liberland envisioning the greatest and wealthiest countries in the world and i just can call it "Perfect" or "Wonderful".. They have choosen greatest things from all over the world and presents to all of us.. To live in Liberland is getting more sensible every new day for me because there are no problems and there are too many options and opportunities.

Liberland's free-market roots idea would bring lots of companies to them for sure, that means the business volume will keep raising in their ports. As far as i know there are some global compaines has started to make bussines with Liberland aand which is really something great.. I am following the news about that from Liberland statements.

My answer to your question:

If the govermenst opens academical corners, universities and schools, i believe that would be the greatest move they have ever made in Liberland.. It would create many benefits for everyone else..

Yes, the global university system is not perfect, i am agree with you on this, i believe there is solution to this matter. I think you should open some universities lets say "2". One should be about the matematic, physics, chemistry, biology, architecture and engineering, the other and the last one is about full of art (painting, music, sculpture, fashion, design etc..)  Before open those universities you have to talk with the lecturers, you have to tell them and show them about the Liberland specialities and tell them about its advantages.. Liberland is already something unique and if you create an unique education system as well, you would be the most successful small country in the world history ever. So you need to think good and create something about the education system which no country have it.

You could find some slogans as well, like "Come and study here, build your life in the greatest place in the world" Or for the lecturers: "Come and teach here to most unique students in most unusual place in the world".. I am sure your team would find better slogans ofcourse, i tried to said that you need to show yourself to the world with your unique small world.. I mean before i became member of the Liberland, i made lots of searches on the web and it was something really new and amazing for me. The idea of Liberland.. I really got it in last 2 years and i am sure many people would feel the same things with me  if they meet the Liberland. They only need to hear this idea, know about Liberland more.. So "YOU NEED TO SHAW YOURSELF TO THE WORLD"

As a member of Liberland since 2017 i am always following them and reading their mails which they send me regularly because i am in Liberland's database and i am glad to be with them. I got mail from Liberland yesterday they announce their Music Festival the mail says "The music will include some of the best Liberland DJs and jazz performers. Join us for the top Liberland event in the summer!"

I really felt great when i read that mail because every new mail i get from Liberland i feel it the same. There are always new projects, meetings, celebratings.. Lot's of great think happening in the Liberland consistenly, that's why i really love and trust them.

The idea in implementing that is that there must be a strong presence of students on campus, especially student organizations directed at their improvement so that they can provide more solutions to their problems because the school is intended for students.

I think your university should seek a multifaceted approach to funding, as is the case with many universities in my home country (UK) but I will propose one little interesting twist...

1> research funding - a staple of any good university is research funding setting up labs and such that allow scientists to research key areas such as dark matter, string theory, social sciences and pharmacology will draw funding from across the globe, provided the correct team of researchers are recruited with appropriate marketing.

2> Charitable donations - another key way some UK based universities raise funds. I am sure that many businesses and citizens would be happy to carry out fundraising for an esteemed university.

3> Merchandising - Something universities in the US do very well, create an attractive brand and sell jumpers, hats etc that allow students and citizens to show off their appreciation of your university. As your project is quite unique I am sure many citizens and potential students would be quite happy to wear something. This can be easily set up through online shops like Etsy.

4> create a cryptocurrency, launch it on exchanges and allow students to pay for their tuition through buying these tokens, the advantage of this, of course, is that the setup cost for Lieberland is minimal and whilst the student has an initial cost they actually ow something as a result, which could potentially actually gain value over time or be traded to make their money back. So they are almost investing in themselves.

With regard to some aspects of the University itself, I do believe that as you have a unique University in a unique location that setting yourselves up with what would appear to be a socialist slant is wrong. As an academic institution, you should be above political persuasion. Set yourself up as a truly neutral educational giant where great thinkers from all across the globe can come to debate and exchange views, regardless of political slant or social persuasion. A true hub for free thought without stigma or bias. Only in understanding our differences will we ever find true harmony.

2 weeks ago

Agreed. Neutrality on political persuasion is definitely the way to go. Otherwise, you don't have an academic institution, you have a political think tank.

I can't really think of anything new presently in the university system since I am not directly involved in the educational system, but I will just like to say my view on the educational system.

  1. Making the method of teaching and learning more geared towards what the student knows not really on the students passing the exams, with this, it will be easier to help the student better.
  2. Making the learning system very much practical rather than theoretical, because sometimes after learning the theory, we see that there is a very big gap between the theory of the things and the practical of thing.
  3. Create a system whereby the student will be given tests and exams to test out their strong points and weak point with this it will be easy to help the student increase on the strong points, thus making him/her a better individual in the society by contributing the way he can.

I also want to say that teachers should put more concern into their student's wellbeing and thus discover ways to help; them and also to make them better.

Those who are in it just for the money and because they couldn't land a better job are the ones who exhibit such uncaring behaviour. In my country, that is the case most of the time. A lot of teachers - even lecturers - are disappointed wannabe doctors, lawyers, engineers and pilots who had the classroom as their last resort. The students are therefore the ones who suffer the most.

One recent yet not so common practices (at least here) is the act of giving the students the opportunity to select the time in which they want their exam to be held, most times a lot of work is been loaded on the students and the student don't really have enough time to attend to all the tasks so many a times leaving some work undone and doing others, but if a consensus can be reached by the class, a minimum suitable time for the exam can be selected either by vote or otherwise and then the date of the exam fixed by them.

My idea in implementing such is that there should be a strong presence of the student on the campus most especially the students' organization that is geared towards their betterment so as to provide more solutions to their problems since the school is meant for the students.

Staunch believer in the power of the crowd and blockchain.

Since one of the most important aspects of university practices is vetting and peer reviewing, I feel it is necessary to ask you to do these things. I took the time to research about Liberland and have the following pressing questions:

- Since Liberland is an unrecognized micronation that has no development on it's actual land, what are your goals in all of the "initiatives" that have been presented here on Crowdholding?  Are you planning to create an "online" country of sorts since the land that Liberland has claimed is disputed between Croatia and Serbia?

- Who is responsible for this Liberland Academy initiative? Is it directly supported by Vit Jedlicka?

- How do you plan on becoming accredited and what instituttions will you use to gain that accredidation?

- You mention, "Dozens of global experts have already expressed interest to lead lectures on such a university"  If so, who are they and what institutions are they are part of?

- What expertise do you have in developing a university, let alone even a singular curriculum?

Unless these basic questions can be answered, in all honestly, I can't take you seriously, much in the same way that the micronation, Liberland, itself can't be taken too seriously unless serious issues are addressed (just invoking terra nullius is not enough to become a sovereign nation).

Moreover, due to vague assertions and innacuracies (just one example of many: Singapore has a highly restrictive government with economic freedom for foreign investors and very little freedom for others), this entire Liberland Academy initiative seems like a far fetched fantasy with no real world application or even a straight up scam.  After all, if people sell me education when they have no idea how education works, is what they are selling me of any value?

Please do not take my critiques as overly judgemental.  I am actually a 100% supporter of bringing decentralization and crypto into education.  Full answers to my questions are necessary to even begin planning for an academic institution, let alone one that will have a global scope.

The university institution today is statist and obsolete in a number of aspects:

The education system is based on degree levels. This makes the system rigid and unable to adapt to changing circumstances. Both science and technology advance faster than the education system can handle in terms of the curriculum. Course-based learning model based on modules may help to facilitate the transition to a flexible learning environment adapted to modern world.

The system is based on formal attendance. This is a good thing to an extent, but MOOC's can be used to facilitate the learning experience to a wider audience. The same way, the library institution may be augmented with digital access to soft copies and services.

Collaboration between universities can be developed in order to cross-reference the level of education received by the transfer student and offer learning across the ecosystem.

Science done in universities is financed through tenures and grants. Venture capital and not for profit budgeting in the style of DARPA can advance research of great importance to mankind, but overlooked by the community.

A choice to be examined by a written examination or an oral presentation or interview. Different people have their strengths and weaknesses. I feel it is unfair that they're all expected to undergo an evaluations process that favors one over the other.

I think it is unfair. The kinda of work force my company needs is an uneducated person with a high turnover. These types of people tend to stay and not complain or ask for more money and benefits. If I had to be completely fair in my hiring process, I would not have a business. Chucky Cheese would totally take over.

New Universities that cater to a real skill that's in demand and help that person follow though without aquiring any debt. Most people don't believe it can happen, but their are responsible people that actually pay for their education without the help of any gov't. With new technology allowing  a professor to teach millions by affordable means. We shouldn't allow people to become products with the promise of free education, giving them a average education for an average career. The increase of taxs and population are starting to show how responsible gov't's are with deficits. With the discovery of interplanetary life, religion can no longer have a huge affect on dictorships. The acceptance of the calculated chromosomes  is bringing humanity together again. With time travel at our grasp, we will be able to fix the wrongs of the world. Implementation of Liberland may take some time, but we are about to have  planets with new gov't's. I believe that the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a since of pride to make it easier to depend on us.

We can be the first offworld time-travel incestial, academy for the masses. I can't wait to get some elections going.

Both of my kids went to college without govt aid. They graduated, are gainfully employed using the degrees they earned and have repaid their loans. So yes, it can be done.

Mike, you really have a sarcastic wit to yourself. I've noticed it in several of your comments.

First of all, courses taught in the Liberland Academy should be tailored towards happenings of the 21st Century and not some old unwanted crap. We've crossed the industrial age into the information age but it's sad that most of the courses taught in the universities are still industrial age courses.

For Liberland, courses in Programming, Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain Technology and its Applications, E-Commerce, Videography, Social Media Monetization and Marketing, Software Engineering, Architecture and Art, Cryptocurrency and its Applications, and similar real-world problems that can be digitized should be taught. However, one thing at a time. For starters, the academy can start with only 10 courses. Just like Steven de Baets, I'm strongly of the opinion that the more practical the course is, the better it is for the student. Notice that with all the courses I've listed, if someone graduates from the Liberland Academy with a degree in any of them it would be as good as gold because using it in the real world would be fun - and easy.

With respect to lecturers, I think there are so many of them who have been doing theoretical teaching their whole life. It will be best to invite creators, managers, workers and CEOs of businesses that are already running to do the teaching. Practical courses need practical teachers. For example, if a topic was being taught on YouTube monetization, the best teacher to do that will be a renowned YouTuber/vlogger such as PewDiePie and not some teacher who has read about Youtube. If a topic was to be taught on how to start a crypto project, the best teacher for that would be someone like Ethan Clime, CEO of Crowdholding and not some teacher who has memorized stuff about ICOs, IEOs and KYCs.

Furthermore, there's nothing wrong if an examination is 70% or 80% practical and 30% or 20% theoretical. There's nothing wrong at all. Times have changed and examination methods must change. Examination methods today are still similar to the ones that existed 100 years ago and they must not be so. All examinations can be made project-based.

Finally, I insist that if a course cannot be digitised easily, taken online or applied to real world situations to solve them, then it shouldn't be taught at all.

What do you think of the courses I listed though? Can you add some more?

First of all, I have heard of and also subscribed to Liberland since at least 3 years ago. I love the idea of Liberland become reality, but I actually don't believe that this is possible at least in a short time horizon. But what I see is that you are implementing lots of small steps to establish Liberland as some form of a least a virtual country. There are Websites, products, a flag, a cryptocurrency and maybe an Academy/University. Great development and compliments to all the involved supporters and to the President Vit.

Recently Universities try to offer some free online MOOCs, also very renowned Unis want to boost their brand or just follow the trend, in crypto style FOMO. Yes, they say MOOCs are the future and I share that opinion to some extent. There is also much offered nowadays partial online/offline studying. I applied myself to a partial online Uni, but they were absolutely overrun, so no good luck for me. The disadvantage here for Liberland is to compete with renowned Universities. Also I think for Networking and building important relationships to land later on a good job or customers for your business or investors for your startup it is essential to go to brick and mortar University, possibly a renowned one.

I think online academies will offer the possibility to learn more effective and faster in adapting into new fields, as for example blockchain. You could for example study computer science at an established Uni and meet there real people in the field but do the learning mostly by using online tools and offers and practice coding by participating to Open Source projects on GitHub and therefore show your potential for a potential employer or cofounder ecc.

As for Liberland, their academy should particularly focus on economics and could host events/speakers/teachers in Austrian economics. for example teaching the works of Mises and Rothbard.

So does anyone think there is some untouched business opportunity in Liberland Academy (mix of economy, freedom, law, science as well as blockchain etc), all together finished with a certificate/university degree ?

Crypto classes would be helpful. There is so much to learn. So many tokens/coins, wallets, exchanges. If this is truly the way of the future, more folks need to get educated!

Yes, there are. A lot of untouched ones. I vouch for blockchain, cryptocurrency applications, machine learning, and any course that can make learners truly independent. Law and science? No. We have enough of them.

College tuition is skyrocketing, leaving way too many students with huge debt. Some institutions are offering free college education. This concept would help get many people into college who couldn't otherwise afford it, as well as eliminate debt for others. Liberland Academy can offer tuition free education to all. There are most likely some brilliant minds out there, not practicing what they would be great at because they don't have a degree.

The core of economic justice is 'fairness'. Fairness refers to being in a fair and impartial position without being bound by the interests of any particular individual or group. In particular, it is essential to provide fair educational opportunities. In other words, for equitable distribution of wealth, everyone should be given equal opportunities in education and let individuals choose their own jobs and livings.
I graduated from Pusan National University in 1986, but at the time I recognized that education was not so fair because it was so prevalent that many people did not know the value of education as it is now.

Liberty's motto is to have open education to increase the efficiency of education. For those who want to learn independently of the individual's educational level, age, and race, the state must provide for educational opportunities, although the performance of the education may vary from person to person.
In this regard, the Liberty Academy hopes to have a more open and active framework for education.

I attended Ghent University, graduated in 2014.

The quality of lessons determined my overall experience and involvement with various subjects.

What all high quality lessons had in common was the following:

  1. A passionate professor who’s skilled in the art of teaching. This really makes all the difference.

    1. Only hire professors, not only based on academic achievement,but on teaching skills. This is something that tends to be neglected.

  1. The subjects are well defined and the teaching materials are logically structured, and provide the pupil with a strong foundational knowledge on the subject.

    1. I’ve had classes on both ends of the spectrum; being to narrow and specific vs to broad and not in depth enough. At either end, the lessons were a waste of my time. Either they focused on a to narrow subject such that I didn’t really learn anything that can be applied or they didn’t focus on anything, leaving me with a bunch of memorized names and words without meaning. The best lessons I’ve had, had a nice balance.

  1. Discussions and critical, applied thinking were encouraged.

    1. It goes without saying that lessons that encourage students to actively engage and think about the subject at hand is much more valuable than pure memorisation.

  1. Experts, authors were invited for lectures to present a summary of their work.

    1. This allows students to ask the questions they have directly and in person.

  1. Something I’ve missed during my education, which I feel should be included is this: Give students a direct link to reality.

    1. Academic can be, as the name says, very… academic. I really missed a more direct connection with the world.

      1. This could be fixed by:

        1. Letting students do internships

        2. Invite people in the workfield to present how they apply what students are being taught.

Note that none of the listed criteria mentions anything about fancy technological ways to present stuff. This didn’t affect the quality whatsoever.

Ps: As a response to the first paragraph: Wealth is more than that which can be monetized. A voluntary exchange requires that all parties enjoy, amongst other things; freedom and some form of equality between them. I recommend the author of this task to consider the concept introduced by Rawls:  “A veil of ignorance”.

Below is a quote which summarizes it:

Spencer J. Maxcy outlines the concept as follows:

Imagine that you have set for yourself the task of developing a totally new social contract for today's society. How could you do so fairly? Although you could never actually eliminate all of your personal biases and prejudices, you would need to take steps at least to minimize them. Rawls suggests that you imagine yourself in an original position behind a veil of ignorance. Behind this veil, you know nothing of yourself and your natural abilities, or your position in society. You know nothing of your sex, race, nationality, or individual tastes. Behind such a veil of ignorance all individuals are simply specified as rational, free, and morally equal beings. You do know that in the "real world", however, there will be a wide variety in the natural distribution of natural assets and abilities, and that there will be differences of sex, race, and culture that will distinguish groups of people from each other.

Don't listen to me because of who I am, I'm nobody like everone else.

PragerU has done quite well with digital media, publishing short videos and such like by academics which go against the prevailing widsom of the day. It would be great to see Libreland do something like this but focussing free markets and decentralization, rather than conservatism as PragerU do. The combination of short formats and topics geared towards popular interests, but at the same time having genuine academics presenting the facts plainly (and simply), is really powerful I think. PragerU did fall foul of YouTube censors I think, but perhaps your specialities will be less likely to stir up passions against you than theirs.

How I would go about it would be to start with as narrow a range of courses / subject areas as is feasible and aim to be world leaders in the few that you do offer in order to gain public (and employer) recognition before gradually expanding into a broader range.
